GOD’S SONS
Based on a Jeremy Demester proposition
God’s Sons is more than Art it is a movement.
God’s Sons is a collaborative artistic project involving one or more middle school classes. Invited to write freely and without constraints, the children produce short or long poems free from any formal guidelines. In this open space, poetic expression alone prevails. The texts collected are then brought together and jointly selected by the teachers and the artist, guided by sensitivity and instinct.
The chosen poems are hand-painted by a sign painter, before being presented as a wall installation.
This project is intended to be deployed anywhere in the world, with all children and all teachers.
Children’s poems often carry a form of primal wisdom that we, as conscious adults, sometimes spend a lifetime trying to perceive and understand. Yet in the light of these writings, it becomes clear that this wisdom is given to us from the earliest age.

For this 2026 edition of God’s Sons, the artist has chosen to collaborate with The English International School of Cotonou, with Year 5 and Year 6 classes, supported by their teachers, Mrs Magdalene and Mrs Mbaka.
The small plaques are all made by a local craftsman from the village.
Proceeds from the sale will go to the Fondation Zinsou to support l’Atelier des Petits Pinceaux, as well as to the association Atoke.org, committed to building school canteens in vulnerable rural areas of Benin.
